India promoting diamond, gemstone and jewelry exports |

[AFNS] NEW DELHI, INDIA 06-12-2006 – The Indian government is working to promote exports of diamonds, precious stones and jewelry, Commerce Minister Kamal Nath told the Upper House of the country's parliament.
Nath called diamonds, gemstones and jewelry a thrust sector of the country’s foreign trade policy.
Exports of polished diamonds from India declined by more than 16 percent in the quarter just ended, Nath noted.
